Most music streaming platforms are designed to help you find what you already know you want to hear.
Musen is trying something different.
In Remobi's latest Fireside Chat, Musen founders Fabio Senna and Manuele Carlini joined Lauren Hargreaves to discuss why today's algorithms favour familiarity over discovery, why they removed the skip button, and why changing the algorithm to fit the artist could reshape the future of music streaming.
Their vision is to bring back what made radio special: helping people discover music they weren't looking for. AI simply makes that experience personal.
That's the idea behind Musen, an AI-powered radio experience that learns what you like, introduces you to new artists and aims to create a fairer experience for listeners and musicians alike.

Streaming platforms give listeners access to millions of songs. That doesn't mean great music is any easier to discover.
As Fabio Senna explained, "You can have the best song in the world, but it's very tricky to put it in front of the right people."
That challenge became the starting point for Musen.
Fabio shared that 88% of songs on streaming platforms fail to reach 1,000 plays a year, leaving a large share of artists struggling to be heard.
He also described the playlist paradox. Endless playlists promise more choice, but often lead listeners back to the same artists and the same songs. Instead of making discovery easier, playlists become another collection to search through.
Musen's answer to the discovery problem isn't another streaming app. It's a modern take on radio.
Instead of scrolling through playlists, users tell the platform what they're doing by typing, speaking or uploading a photo. Musen then generates a personalised radio station for that moment.
As people continue listening, the experience becomes more personal. The platform learns their tastes, routines and preferences, creating what the founders describe as a personal AI radio host.
The goal is to make discovering music feel effortless again, so listeners spend less time searching and more time listening.
The Musen team believes artists shouldn't have to create music for an algorithm.
As Lauren Hargreaves put it during the discussion:
“Instead of having to change the artist to fit the algorithm, we're going to change the algorithm to fit the artist.”
For Fabio and Manuele, discovery should come from matching the right music with the right listener.
The platform is designed to surface emerging artists based on listening preferences and context, giving them more opportunities to reach audiences who are likely to connect with their work.
The founders also want to change how subscription revenue reaches independent artists.
Their plans include:
User-centric royalties, where each listener’s subscription supports the artists and stations they actually play.
Up to 95% of subscription revenue going towards royalties as the platform grows, according to the founders’ long-term plans.
Faster payments supported by blockchain infrastructure.
More useful listener and performance insights for artists.
The model would initially split subscription income evenly between maintaining the platform and its royalty pool. As Musen attracts more users and artists, the founders plan to increase the proportion directed towards royalties.
For Manuele, the wider issue is how much creative time artists lose to promotion:
“At the moment an artist spends twenty percent on music and eighty percent on promotion... I want an artist to be focused on that.”
Musen’s ambition is to give artists more time to create while making it easier for the right listeners to find them.
Musen is still in beta, and the founders are inviting the Remobi community to help shape its development.
They are looking for feedback on the listening experience, usability and how accurately the platform responds to different prompts.
